After lunch, your driver takes you to Trang An. This is the part of the day most guests say they will never forget.

A local rower paddles you through a quiet river lined with towering limestone cliffs. You drift through pitch-dark caves where you have to duck your head, then emerge into bright green valleys with hidden temples along the banks. The water is so still it mirrors the mountains above. For two to three hours, there is no engine noise, no traffic, no phone signal. Just the sound of the paddle and the birds.

It is a completely different world from Hanoi, and it is only 1.5 hours away.

Add the Ancient Capital or a Cliff-Side Pagoda

Still have energy after Trang An? Your driver can take you to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam with its 10th-century temples, or to Bich Dong Pagoda, a centuries-old temple carved into a limestone cliff. Both are included in your 8 hours and add a layer of history to what is already a stunning day.
